France is our destination for this month’s Postcard Night at Stampin’ From the Heart, hosted by Jessica Hollowell. We’ll use Golden glazes, rubber stamps and collage papers to transform a plain white card into a work of art that looks, well, magnifique. (That’s French for really fab). The rubber stamps for this project are some of my faves, every one a queen in her own right, by Stampsmith. Postcard Night, Friday, April 23, 6:30-8:30, at Stamping From the Heart, 11720 Washington Place, Los Angeles. Call 310- 391-0466 for directions. You can choose 2 of the four cards I have designed. All materials provided. Fee $10. Hope to see you there. When in doubt, Jess Create It.

Spring Into Extavaganza 2010
Yes it’s that time again: We’re doing another Extravaganza. Four projects, food, goodie bags full of rubber stamps and other loot, lots of laughs and great rubber stamping and book arts. Is there a better way to spend a day? I will join Ellie + Linda, Gayle, and Lori Lai as your teachers for the day. You get to do all four projects designed by us and have continental breakfast and a full lunch too. My project is a versatile (and may I just say, habit-forming) Honeycomb Tag Booklet that I am sure you’ll love and can put your own personal touch on when you begin making them at home. I don’t usually show the Extravaganza project before the day of the event, but this time I couldn’t resist. Spring Extravaganza, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, April 17, hosted by Karen at Stampin’ From the Heart. See Karen’s blog for details (click the link on this site). Seats are filling up fast and there’s only space for 20 students. Hope to see you there. When in doubt, Jess Create It!
Grunge + H20’s = WOW!
Join me April 15 (a great way to relax after sending in your tax return) at Stampin’ From the Heart for ATC Night, where this month we will play with grungeboard. What’s THAT? you may ask. It some kind of dull gray not-exactly-cardstock stuff brought to life by Tim Holtz that you can bend, fold and mutilate. But we are going are going to beautify it with Twinkling H20 paints, rubber stamps and collage images (and THEN we’ll mutilate it with staples). Don’t forget to bring a batch (10 or so) of your own Artist Trading Cards to trade, and you will get some by the other artists in return. Your cards can all be the same or each can be different. No rules, except it must be 2-1/2 by 3-1/2 inches and signed on the back. Festivities begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. to 8:15 or so. ATC Night, Thursday, April 15, 6:30-8+ p.m. at Stampin’ From the Heart, 11720 Washington Place, Los Angeles, at the corner of McLaughlin. Call 310-391-0466 for directions. Fee $10, all materials supplied by host Jessica Hollowell.
Meandering ATCs
This month’s ATC Night will be a project night of sorts. Everyone agreed that it might be fun to stray a little from our usual path. So we’ll be making Meandering Books in the perfect size to store or display some of your favorite Artist Trading Cards. If you are not sure what an ATC is, check out the page on this site.: What’s an ATC? And if you’re not sure what a Meandering Book is, check out the page on this site: What’s a Meandering Book?
Here’s a link to a copy of the pages that features my “Meandering Through Paris” ATC book published in Somerset Gallery. Click on the link and it will show you a preview, then hit the back arrow to return to the site. meandering It includes a series of ATCs I made for the magazine’s Paris call. I’ll provide photocopies of these cards for anyone who wants one in the trade (because the originals are in the book). ANDDDDDD, drumroll, please, there’ll be a surprise! But I don’t want to spoil the fun by telling you now.
ATC Night, Thursday, March 18, 6:30-8 or-so p.m., at Stampin From the Heart. Fee $10. As more people join us, we need to bring more cards to trade. So if you want to trade, please bring around 10 cards (any theme; they don’t all have to be the same) and don’t forget one for Karen at the store, who makes this all possible. See you there.
‘If Friends Were Flowers…
…I’d pick you. ”
I was thinking the other day how grateful I am for my friends. They are with me when times are good and support me when times are tough. It’s a special kind of love we have for our friends. So I decided to honor that blessing in my life by creating a series of greeting cards that celebrates friendship. I hope you can join me Friday, March 12, 6:30-8:30 p.m., at Stampin’ From the Heart in Los Angeles. Fee $5 per card, all materials supplied by Jessica Hollowell.
