We’ll be starting off ATC Night in 2011 with non-traditional Valentine ATCs. If you plan to trade, you can take the challenge too. Or not! Mine are inspired by a soap wrapper (yes, that’s right) that I could not seem to throw away. Instead I copied it and used it for the background of my Valentine ATCs. Each also features a bird in a heart design (you can choose from among 4) and some glitter tulle and gold tissue paper. I love the way the materials just seemed to blend together. These cards prove that anything can be turned into art. Join me on Thursday, Jan. 20, 2011 at Stampin’ From the Heart, for ATC Night, 6:30-8 p.m. Materials to make 2 cards supplied by instructor and paper artist Jessica Hollowell. Cost $10. NOTE: If you plan to trade, please bring at least 12 cards (that includes one for me and one for the store.) Feel free to come even if you don’t trade. Some of the ATC artists may be willing to give you a card anyway and everyone who comes gets one of mine to take home.

Valentine Make-It/Take-It
My challenge was to make Valentine cards without using red hearts. I think I succeeded. I found some lovely vellum in the vast storehouse of paper in my studio and came up with two designs that I think fill the bill. Lime green, pastel pink and purple sound valentiney, right? And could I possibly make a Valentine card without birds? The short answer is: No. Gee, I hope you like them as much as I do. Join me for a special third-Friday of the month Make-It/Take-It at Stampin’ From the Heart, Friday, January 21, 6:30-8 p.m. Make as many as you like while supplies last. Cost $5 per card.
Master Board Postcards
My friend and fellow paper artist Joanne sent me a beautiful holiday card that she created from a master-board. What a great idea, I thought. So the first Postcard Night project of 2011 is a tribute to her artwork. We’ll be making a mini master-board from various tissue papers and then adding a mini-postcard to it. A bit of glitter, some gold leaf and embellishments and it’s one you won’t want to miss. What’s a masterboard you may ask? See page on this site to find out more and see some examples. Join me on Friday, January 28, 2011, at Stampin’ From the Heart (see link on this site) for Postcard Night, 6:30-8 p.m. (We start on time). Materials for 2 cards supplied by artist and instructor Jessica Hollowell. Cost $10. See you there.
