Master Board Postcards

Standard

Postcard Night Jan. 28, 2011My friend and fellow paper artist Joanne sent me a beautiful holiday card that she created from a master-board. What a great idea, I thought. So the first Postcard Night project of 2011 is a tribute to her artwork. We’ll be making a mini master-board from various tissue papers and then adding a mini-postcard to it. A bit of glitter, some gold leaf and  embellishments and it’s one you won’t want to miss. What’s a masterboard you may ask? See page on this site to find out more and see some examples. Join me on Friday, January 28, 2011, at Stampin’ From the Heart (see link on this site) for Postcard Night, 6:30-8 p.m. (We start on time). Materials for 2 cards supplied by artist and instructor Jessica Hollowell. Cost $10. See you there.

Paris ATcs & Masterboards

Standard

You’re in for a treat at this month’s ATC Night, because not only will you be trading cards and making some Paris collage ATCs, you’ll also be making a masterboard of your very own to take home and use for the basis of some wonderful cards. What’s a masterboard, you ask? Well, here’s a look at the one I made for the background of this month’s ATC project. It’s easy and fun and can be a great way to use up those scraps you’ve been saving just in case you run out of other materials. ATC Night, Thursday, Feb. 18, 6:30-8+ p.m. at Stampin’ From the Heart, 11720 Washington Place (at the corner of McLaughlin). Call 310 391-0466 for directions. Cost $10.  What’s an ATC? Check out the page on this site for details.

Motherboard Piano Hinge Journal

Aubergine piano hinge journal (cover)

Aubergine piano hinge journal (cover)

Coming in August, we’ll delve into a new way of creating a book. It’s called the Piano Hinge binding, and it looks alot harder than it really is. We’ll decorate the covers with custom papers (we’ll paint and embellish) and lots of scraps. Then we’ll make inside journal pages that you can later write or color or stamp as the spirit moves you). Anyway, it’s lots of fun and I encourage you to bring whatever papers and other goodies you may want to include. Here’s a picture of the journal I am sending into Somerset Studio for the Aubergine call. I’ll be showing the real journal at the class Sunday and taking it in next week. Then I’ll design a new one for the class.

Class on Saturday, Aug. 22, 10:30 p.m.-3:30 p.m., $50; Bring precision scissors, glue sticks, dbl-sided tape, red tape, rubber gloves. Sign up at Stampin’ From the Heart at (310) 391-0466.
